Direct Debits
You are here: Home -> Consumer Corner -> Payment Types -> Direct Debits A A

Direct debit is one of the easiest ways to pay household bills or make regular payments to any organisation that offers direct debit payments. These organisations are called ‘originators’. Direct debit saves time, is convenient and gives you greater control over your money. It is ideally suited for regular payments with variable amounts such as utility bills, insurance, mortgage/loan repayments and subscriptions.

Most large billing organisations such as utility companies make it very easy for customers to switch to direct debit and once set up it takes away the need to make payments manually for every bill. Direct debit is a preferred bill payment method for many Irish people.

The Direct Debit Scheme in Ireland is administered and governed by the Irish Retail Electronic Payments Clearing Company Limited.
