Direct debit is one of the easiest ways to collect regular payments due from debtors. Typical examples of payments that can be collected by direct debit include utility bills, insurance premiums, mortgage/loan repayments and subscriptions for clubs and associations. Companies that collect payments via direct debit are known as ‘originators’.
